After smashing unbeaten 124 runs in the ongoing 2nd Test match against West Indies, Pakistani cricketer Fawad Alam has scripted a new record for Pakistan cricket. Fawad Alam has become the fastest Pakistani player to smack 5 centuries in Test cricket. The left-handed batsman reached 5 tons in only his 22nd Test innings.

Fawad Alam broke the record of former Pakistani cricketer Younis Khan, who held the record of reaching 5 Test tons in 28 innings. Alam also became the only 6th Pakistan batsman to score a century at Sabina Park Cricket Stadium in Jamaica.

The 35-year-old player also became the quickest Asian batsman to score 5 test centuries in 22 innings. He surpassed India’s Cheteshwar Pujara (24 innings), Sourav Ganguly (25 innings), and Sunil Gavaskar (25 innings).

Fawad Alam Takes Pakistan Scoreboard To 302-9 In First Innings

Alam smashed unbeaten 124 runs off 213 runs in the match, before Pakistan declared their innings at 302-9 just before the tea on Day 2. Fawad Alam’s ton proved to be very crucial for Pakistan, as their top order collapsed cheaply against the West Indies bowling attack. Openers Abid Ali and Imran Butt lost their wickets for just 1 run each while one-down Azhar Ali was gone for a six-ball duck.

With 2-3 at the start on the scoreboard, skipper Babar Azam and Fawad Alam scored a partnership of 166 runs, with Azam smacking 75 runs before becoming a victim of pacer Kemar Roach. Faheem Ashraf then made a partnership of 50 runs with Alam, while piling 26 runs from his bat. While Alam remained on one end accumulating runs for Pakistan, other players kept losing their wickets. In the end, skipper Babar Azam declared the innings with 302-9 on the scoreboard.
