Suryakumar Yadav celebrated India’s ninth Asia Cup title with pride after the thrilling five-wicket win over Pakistan in Dubai. India’s Asia Cup 2025 final victory was celebrated across the country, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Men in Blue on social media.
PM Modi linked the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian cricket team’s victory over Pakistan in the final to Operation Sindoor, India’s military response after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Reacting to his congratulatory post, the Indian captain has noted that the prime minister’s support gave the players more energy and confidence, making the victory even more special.
He said that seeing PM Modi on the “front foot” inspired the players to play freely and enjoy the moment, and he is really happy that the whole nation was celebrating the victory with them.

Suryakumar Yada was quoted as saying by ANI: “It feels good when the country's leader himself bats on the front foot; it felt like he took the strike and scored runs. It was great to see, and when the sir is standing in front, then definitely the players will play freely. The most important thing is that the whole country is celebrating. When we go back (to India), it will feel good, and we will get more inspiration and motivation to do well.”
However, the Men in Blue’s Asia Cup 2025 victory was marred by the controversy. The Indian team refused to accept the trophy and winners’ medals from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi. He is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister.
Suryakumar Yadav declares team spirit and hard work as true trophy after the controversy
After their refusal, Mohsin Naqvi left the podium with the Asia Cup trophy and medals, leaving the winning team without their awards. Despite not getting his hands on the “hard-fought” trophy, Suryakumar has stressed that the real reward was much bigger than a piece of silverware.
The Indian captain has refused to call the incident a “controversy” and explained that the true victory lay in the trust, support, and hard work of the players, coaches, and staff who contributed behind the scenes. However, BCCI made it clear that they will take the issue to the ACC and ICC.
Suryakumar signed off by saying, “I won't call it controversy. If you have seen, people have posted photos of the trophy here and there. But the real trophy is when you win the hearts of people, the players, the trust you earn, the support staff, the trust they have shown, and the people who work behind the scenes; that is the real trophy. The real trophy is the work and effort of so many people on the field.”

Jasprit Bumrah mocks Haris Rauf’s controversial gesture in the Asia Cup 2025 Final
Meanwhile, after dismissing Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf with a perfect toe-crushing yorker, Jasprit Bumrah mimicked the Pakistani pacer’s “plane crashing” gesture, giving the pacer a taste of his own medicine.
Notably, Haris Rauf had made the same controversial gesture in the Super Four stage match between India and Pakistan, and later, he was fined 30 percent of his match fees by the ICC.
Bumrah said after the final, “It has been exciting. Not very often in a multinational tournament do you play one opposition three times, so “interesting” is the word for me.”
