India, led by Shubman Gill, broke multiple batting records during the final Test of the ongoing five-match series against England at the Oval. The Men in Blue amassed a total of 3809 runs in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, which is the second-highest ever total by any team in a five-match Test series.

India are in control of the fifth Test at The Oval. They set a target of 374 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with his sixth Test hundred, while Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar added fifties. The hosts still need 324 more runs with eight wickets in hand. Chris Woakes has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

India Records Second-Highest Team Aggregate in Test Series History

India scored 3,809 runs at an impressive average of 42.32 across five Tests against England, which is the second-highest total ever by a team in a single Test series. Six different Indian batters scored 12 centuries. The Men in Blue also registered a record 28 individual scores of 50 or more.

India Breaks Australia’s Record for Most Boundaries in a Test Series

India have set the record for the most boundaries in a Test series, smashing 470 in 10 innings. They hit 422 fours and 48 sixes, surpassing the previous record of 460 set by Australia during the 1993 Ashes. The milestone was reached on Day 3 of the final Test at The Oval.

This is also the first time India have crossed the 400-boundary mark in a single Test series, breaking their previous best of 384 set back in 1964. They ended a record that had remained unbroken for six decades.

Shubman Gill was the leading boundary-getter for India, hitting 85 fours and 12 sixes across 10 innings. KL Rahul smashed 69 fours, while Ravindra Jadeja added 53 boundaries and six sixes. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 63 fours and four sixes to his tally.

Five Indian players crossed the 400-run mark in the series. Shubman Gill scored 754 runs, followed by KL Rahul (532), Ravindra Jadeja (516), Rishabh Pant (479), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (411).
