It’s like a blessing to be in the same dressing room with him - Arshdeep Singh

It was expected that the veteran batter would set the stage on fire because of the way he was training in the nets. However, no such thing happened, and he walked back to the hut without troubling the scorers.

Kohli had to arrive early in the middle as Rohit Sharma got out in the 4th over, and just a few balls into his innings, the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper followed the former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain in the dugout.

On the first ball of the 7th over, Mitchell Starc bowled a full-length delivery to Kohli, who was drawn into the drive. The Indian batter was only able to get a thick outside edge and was superbly caught by Cooper Connolly.

The crowd at the Perth Stadium was left absolutely stunned seeing the modern-day batting great walk back to the hut after his eight-ball duck.

After India's defeat in the match, Arshdeep Singh attended a press conference where he was asked about Kohli. He responded by saying that Kohli has played over 300 ODIs, and sharing the dressing room with him is a blessing.

“He (Virat Kohli) has played more than 300 ODIs for India, so form is just a word for him, he knows how to get going, and it’s like a blessing to be in the same dressing room with him,” Arshdeep stated, as quoted by RevSportz

Going forward, I feel there’ll be a lot of runs for him in this series - Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer also predicted that Kohli will score big runs in the remainder of the three-match series against Australia. He said:

“Going forward, I feel there’ll be a lot of runs for him in this series as well, and talking about the format he is playing, he has mastered this one.”

Arshdeep Singh shared the new ball with Mohammed Siraj in the first ODI and picked up the massive wicket of Travis Head for 8 in his first over itself. While talking about his approach with the ball in ODIs, Arshdeep stated:

“The approach is not the same in ODI when compared to T20Is. Your mindset is attacking at the start, that you have to give wickets to the team.”

But there is a mixture, at the start you have to put on the red-ball lengths - Arshdeep Singh

The Punjab left-arm pacer further said that bowling red-ball lengths becomes crucial at the start of ODI innings, and on the backend, T20 bowling lengths are crucial. He asserted:

“But there is a mixture, at the start you have to put on the red-ball lengths, you have to bowl with a little patience, and you have to set the batsman up, whereas in T20s the batsman goes to attack you. And in the last 3-4 overs, you have to bowl with the T20 mindset."
