Cricket legend Michael Slater has again fronted court after police were called to his house over concern for his welfare. Police rushed to the 52-year-old’s Manly home on Sydney’s northern beaches on July 14.

After they arrived, they called an ambulance that took Slater to Northern Beaches Hospital, The Daily Telegraph reported. He remained in hospital until he was taken to Manly police station on Monday and charged with breaching his bail.

Michael Slater To Appear In Court Again In January

Slater fronted Manly Local Court on Monday afternoon.

He was granted strict conditional bail by Magistrate Megan Greenwood, meaning he must stay away from alcohol and drugs, and be of good behaviour.

Additionally, Slater is forbidden from getting in touch with a number of complainants who have violence orders pending against him.

He has pleaded not guilty to charges that he assaulted and stalked/intimidated a lady during an encounter in May. Earlier this year, charges stemming from a different incident in 2021 were dropped due to mental health issues.

In January of next year, Slater will appear in court again to contest the allegations.

Career Of Michael Slater

Michael Slater, a top-order batsman, was renowned for his irrational behaviour on the field. Slater was a talented batter who secured his berth in the Australian national squad for over ten years until personal issues led his career to go south. He started his career in 1993 and represented Australia in 74 tests up to 2001.

Although his limited-overs career did not exactly reach the same heights as his Test career, it did so anyway. His debut score of 73 against South Africa was outstanding, but that was the maximum he could get in one-day internationals. His time with the one-day team thus came to an abrupt end, with his final ODI taking place in 1997 against England.

After his career as a batter came to an end and his desire for runs also subsided, Slater made the transition to commentary. Following a spell of sickness in the summer of 2003–2004, he ultimately announced his retirement in the following year.
