Former India Pacer RP Singh's Father Passes Away Due To COVID-19

The ongoing COVID-19’s second wave has continued to wreak havoc in the cricketing fraternity as former and current players continue losing their closed ones. Former Indian paceman, RP Singh’s father, became the latest casualty as he lost a battle to the deadly virus. The 2007 World T20 winner announced the same through his official Twitter handle.

Rudra Pratap Singh was a part of the commentators’ bio-secure bubble of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) until BCCI suspended the tournament due to rising COVID-19 cases. The former left-arm seamer featured in 14 Tests, 58 ODIs, and 10 T20Is from 2006 to 2011. The 35-year old also played for the Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rising Pune Supergiants, Mumbai Indians, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Earlier, Piyush Chawla also revealed losing his father to COVID-19.

RP Singh took to his official Twitter handle and remarked, “It is with deepest grief and sadness we inform the passing away of my father, Mr Shiv Prasad Singh. He left for his heavenly abode on 12th May after suffering from Covid. We request you to keep my beloved father in your thoughts and prayers. RIP Papa,”
