Former South Africa Captain Johan Botha Named Assistant Coach Of Adelaide Strikers

South Africa all-rounder Johan Botha who was famous for his smart spin bowling and crisp hitting has entered the Coaching setup. The right-handed batter has been named Assistant Coach of Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season of BBL. BBL is considered to be one of the biggest events in Franchise Cricket as there is a good exhibition between bat and ball.

BBL is a tournament that is quite long next to IPL due to which it keeps the people enthralling. Cricket Australia would be hopeful that BBL helps the Australian Cricket Team to clinch their back-to-back T20 World Cup which hasn’t happened in the history of ICC T20 World Cup.

Johan Botha was having an interaction with Cricket Australia and was asked about his new role.

“I have so many fantastic memories from Adelaide Oval and can’t wait to get to work with Jason Gillespie and the other Striker’s support staff.

“The squad has great potential coming off a really strong season last summer and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together in BBL 12,” said Botha.

Throughout his career, Botha was someone who was ready for any challenge. At one stage he was one of the most important members of the South Africa National Cricket Team where he grabbed a lot of attention. The 40-year-old cricketer knows Adelaide Strikers quite well as he was an integral part of the BBL Setup.

It would be interesting to see how the former cricketer copes with the new role; as we all know that there’s a huge difference between playing and coaching. The peculiarity of Botha is that he can assist everyone and make them ready for any sort of uphill challenge. Botha will have to be more vigilant in his approach as the job of Assistant Coach doesn’t look that easy.
