India National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir rubbished all the rumours of a rift with skipper Rohit Sharma. He said that rumours are being circulated by social media and YouTube channels, and people are trying to boost their TRP.

India National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Rohit Sharma, as per the various reports, don't share a good relationship. There have been several reports that claimed that the duo don't agree on most of the decisions, and this has raised tensions in the dressing room as well.

The relationship between Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma reportedly took a negative step during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The India National Cricket Team skipper struggled to get going in the series, and it saw the right-hander facing a lot of criticism as well.

"I want to begin by asking—who are the people asking such questions? These are just social media and YouTube channel people trying to boost their TRP. If we hadn't won the Champions Trophy, I can't even imagine the kind of questions the media would have asked me."

Gambhir also gave a clear-cut statement on the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, saying that till they are performing, they should be part of the team. He added:

"Till the time they are performing, they should be a part of the team. Performance ensures selection. No coach, selector, or even the BCCI can tell someone to stop playing if they’re delivering. No sportsman plays for farewell. The biggest farewell and trophy is the love of the country. That is what truly matters,”

Gambhir also clarified that picking the team is not his job, as his responsibility is to prepare whoever is selected to perform for India.

He also talked about his relationship with Virat Kohli, saying that they are two Delhi boys having fun.

"It's not the coach’s job to pick the team; that’s for the selectors. My responsibility is to prepare whoever is selected to perform for India,” he noted.

“It’s just two Delhi boys having fun. If that’s a problem, I’ll tell the BCCI to stop posting about it. I want to be a winner. Nobody wants to lose. I don’t want to change anything in that," he added.
