Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir rarely shares any light moments in public. The World Cup winner prefers to maintain a serious attitude and is seldom seen laughing on the cricket field.

However, he recently shared a lighthearted moment during an interview, playfully trolling Rohit Sharma. The Indian great was asked to provide incorrect answers to a series of questions. One of the questions challenged him to name the fittest cricketer he had played with.

In reply, Gautam Gambhir humorously chose his former teammate Rohit Sharma as the ‘wrong answer’ for the title of the fittest cricketer. The current India captain is one of the best batsmen in the world and is also a brilliant fielder but has been questioned about his fitness on a number of occasions. He has also faced criticism for his weight on a number of occasions.

Gautam Gambhir praises ‘selfless’ Rohit Sharma:

While Gautam Gambhir joked about Rohit Sharma’s fitness, he has never shied away from expressing his admiration for the India batting superstar. Time and again, he has called his former India teammate the best white-ball cricketer in the world.

Recently, the former India batsman heaped praise on Rohit for his selfless leadership during the World Cup. He lavished praise on the right-handed batsman for showing the way to the team and leading the team from the very front in the marquee event.

“I have said this about Rohit Sharma already. Just laughing around with teammates and speaking well about them in the media doesn’t make you selfless. You can still be selfish by trying to look to score your runs. But it is the way you bat or bowl that makes you selfless,” Gautam Gambhir told Sportskeeda.

“Rohit said that the team is looking to play aggressively and he has led by example. If he wanted to, he could have easily scored a hundred in 25 overs. So he has been selfless by his actions and not just words,” he added.

Rohit Sharma will return to action later this month when he leads Team India in the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa.
