Indian speedster Harshit Rana has been picked over the likes of Gujarat Titans pace duo Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj for the Asia Cup 2025, alongside the two other pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh.

India has not only made surprising choices in the batting department but has also made several unexpected calls with the ball as well. Prasidh Krishna, the unsung hero from Oval, was not included in the side despite having a stellar IPL season.

Harshit Rana has picked crucial wickets for India in the Champions Trophy as well as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He has made his name among the Indian pacers and has finally made the cut to be included as India's third pacer for the Asia Cup.

Harshit Rana to make Asia Cup debut; Siraj and Krishna sidelined

Kolkata Knight Riders paceman Harshit Rana is about to make his Asia Cup debut, since he has been picked over the likes of several senior Indian pacers. Rana's pick has stirred up some controversies within the Indian team.

Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna might be considered for the Indian Test side, as a result of which they have probably been snubbed from the Asia Cup team. The Asia Cup ends just 4 days before the West Indies red-ball tour begins; hence, this decision might have been made to manage the workload of the pacers.

Though initially criticized, Rana has often shown why Gautam Gambhir pins his faith on him and picks him over the likes of many experienced Indian speedsters.

Prasidh Krishna is named as a Standby for the Asia Cup

Alongside naming the 15-member squad, the Indian selectors board has also picked 5 more players who will wait in the sidelines as standbys for the upcoming continental championship. In case of any injury or need for a probable replacement, the Head Coach can bring in any player from the standbys.

India has named fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, all-rounders Riyan Parag and Washington Sundar, wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel, and batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. All of these players deserved a fair chance in the team, but as Agarkar suggests, there are only 15 spots and everyone has to wait for their chances.
