India National Cricket Team head coach and former BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has reportedly received death threats from "ISIS Kashmir" after a horrifying Pahalgam attack. Gautam Gambhir received the threats through two chilling emails sent on April 22 by "ISIS Kashmir."
The message was simple but terrifying: “IKillU.” As reported by ANI, Gambhir received the first email in the afternoon, and the second followed in the evening, prompting the Indian head coach to approach Delhi Police for his and his family’s security.

The report confirmed that Gambhir approached Delhi Police on Wednesday, April 23, and formally requested action on the threats. The former Indian cricketer also filed a complaint for an FIR at the Rajinder Nagar Police Station and contacted the DCP of Central Delhi, requesting immediate steps to ensure the safety of him and his family.

Gautam Gambhir is already a Delhi Police protectee, says Delhi Police
The Delhi Police are likely to carry out a full investigation into the threat and take all necessary steps to protect Gambhir and his family. They are expected to increase security around him and his family, but they didn’t reveal what type of security they are set to provide the former BJP MP.
The Delhi Police stated, “We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The same is being investigated. He is already a Delhi Police protectee, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements.”
Well, this isn’t the first time Gambhir has been targeted. He had received a similar threat back in November 2021 when he was serving as a Member of Parliament. But this latest attack came at a time when the entire nation was mourning the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
“India will strike”: Gautam Gambhir on Pahalgam attack
Gambhir had strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Taking to the social media platform X, the Indian head coach called out the horrific violence that claimed 26 innocent tourists lives after terrorists opened fire in the Baisaran meadow.
Taking to his X handle, Gambhir had posted, “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.” Notably, it was one of the deadliest attacks in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama tragedy.

Gambhir recently returned to India after a family vacation in France. He has been out of the limelight since India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in March.
With the Indian Premier League 2025 currently in full swing, national team coaches are on a break while players are busy with franchise commitments.
Gambhir took over as the head coach of Team India in July last year, replacing Rahul Dravid, who had led the team to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.
