According to Yuzvendra Chahal, it was a match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the IPL 2015 season. Suresh Raina was in full attacking mode for CSK against Chahal. Raina hit Chahal for three sixes in a row.
The first six Raina hit was a well-executed shot, but the following two 6s crossed the boundary rope only by a few yards. Pressure was on the spinner when Virat Kohli stepped in to discuss his next move with Yuzvendra Chahal.
"There was a match against CSK in 2015. Okay. So, Raina bhaiya (Suresh Raina) hit three sixes off three balls. He hit the first one, and I thought, “Okay, that’s a good shot.” Then he hit the second one, and it just cleared the boundary. I thought, “That’s gone for six again.” The third one was similar, so I thought, “Okay, it’s probably just the ground. But the ball isn’t bad. So, he hit three sixes off three balls for the first time," Chahal said to Aakash Chopra in the podcast.

Taking Chahal by surprise, Kohli asked him to lure Suresh Raina again for a maximum. Chahal delivered the next ball according to the skipper's suggestions. The plan worked. The ball was on the off, and Raina, a left-handed batter, came out of his crease in search of the fourth six of the over. The ball got height after making contact with the bat but failed to clear the rope. The fielder at deep midwicket took an easy catch to dismiss Suresh Raina.
"I think Virat Bhaiyya was at long-off. So, he said, “It’s okay, let him hit 6 sixes. We’ll see.” He hit another six. At that time, it was only my second year. And when the captain and Virat Bhaiyya were saying so much, I thought, “Okay, let him hit sixes"', Chahal continued.
"Then I bowled the next ball to get him out, and he was caught at long-off," he concluded the topic.

IPL 2015 proved fantastic for Yuzvendra Chahal
In that season, Yuzvendra Chahal took 23 wickets for RCB in 15 matches with an economy rate of 8.86. So far, in terms of taking wickets in a single IPL season, the 23-wicket stint remains his second-best throughout his league career.
The best he got was in 2022 for the Rajasthan Royals. For the Royals in IPL 2022, the experienced spinner claimed 27 wickets in 17 matches.
