In a shocking development, explosive Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell may leave the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Glenn Maxwell has reportedly unfollowed his current franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Instagram.
Glenn Maxwell has been a consistent member of the Royal Challengers playing XI since 2021. He played memorable knocks for the franchise in the marquee T20 tournament. However, he struggled to make an impact in this year's IPL tournament. He was even dropped from the team for a few matches.
The 35-year-old scored only 52 runs in 10 innings at a disappointing average of 5.78 and a strike rate of 120.93. The right-handed batter was dismissed for a duck in the Eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, the off-spinner took six wickets at an average of 21.50 and an economy rate of 8.06.

Glenn Maxwell was purchased by the Royal Challengers for a whopping Rs 14.25 crore in the 2021 auction. He was retained for Rs 11 crore for the next three seasons. In 2021, Maxwell scored 513 runs at an average of 42.75 and a strike rate of 144.10. He scored 301 and 400 runs in the following two seasons.

The RCB team has been criticized by critics for their strategy. They relied on a top-heavy batting lineup without a quality bowling attack in their team.
The IPL owners and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon meet to discuss key topics such as player retention policies, right-to-match options, and salary caps.
