Pakistan cricket has hit rock bottom once again, leaving the entire country furious, including Basit Ali. After a humiliating performance at home in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan National Cricket Team traveled to New Zealand with hopes of redemption with fresh faces and new T20I captain Salman Ali Agha.
But the nightmare continued as the Pakistan National Cricket Team suffered a crushing 1-4 defeat against New Zealand in the five-match T20I series despite the hosts being without several star players, who were busy with their IPL 2025 commitments in India.
The Pakistan team has betrayed us: Basit Ali
Unfortunately, their miserable run of poor performance continues in the ongoing three-match ODI series, as they lost the first two matches to lose another bilateral series in an embarrassing fashion. This string of failures has left fans and former cricketers frustrated.

Blasting the Pakistani side for their lackluster display, Basit Ali slammed the outdated approach and poor captaincy decisions, calling it a betrayal of the nation’s expectations. He was shocked to see how the team was unable to capitalize on crucial moments against the Black Caps.
Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel, “The Pakistan team has betrayed us. I don't know what era of cricket we are playing. Pakistan made a strong comeback after Mitchell's dismissal but poor captaincy. This is not a Pakistan team; that's all I can say.”
Basit Ali slams Pakistan’s "Bradmans" after humiliating ODI series loss to the Black Caps
The former national selector lashed out at Pakistan’s top order after their disastrous performance, sarcastically dubbing them as "Bradmans" for their single-digit scores against the Black Caps in the second T20I. He suggested that the Men in Green should skip the final ODI and just head back home to save fans and the country from more humiliation.
Basit Ali signed off by saying, “The Bradmans from one to six were in single digits apart from Tayyab Tahir. I feel that instead of playing the third match, Pakistan should say, 'You win, so let us go back to our home; we are homesick.' This is New Zealand's C team. I am surprised Naseem Shah didn't play. Pakistan shouldn't have scored 200-plus; we should have packed at 140.”

Faheem Ashraf says 'We need to back each other'
Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf, who slammed 73 off 80 deliveries in the second ODI, emphasized the importance of playing as a team rather than focusing solely on individual performances. He believes that true success comes from backing each other and maintaining a collective mindset.
The Pakistani star has pointed out that as long as players continue to play good cricket with a winning attitude, victories will follow. He urged his teammates to focus on unity and consistency rather than just contributing individually and to maintain a positive mindset.
Faheem signed off by saying, "As a team, we need to back each other rather than just focusing on individual performances and then stepping aside. It has also happened in the past. So, I say that is not that difficult; if you keep playing good cricket, then you will definitely win.”
