Indian skipper and star batsman — Virat Kohli is a role model and an inspiration for millions of his followers, admirers from common people to former players, and not least the budding young cricketers in the country.

One such young and future prospect in the country is Kerala’s Mohammed Azharuddeen, who was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the February auction for IPL 2021 at his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

The right-hander came into recognition when he smashed a ton – a knock of 137* runs off 54 balls – in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020/21. He reached the three-figure landmark in 37 balls, which is the second-fastest century in the history of the tournament.

While Mohammed Azharuddeen didn’t get to make his IPL debut in the season which now stands suspended, he got to share the dressing room, and learn from the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell. RCB sits at the third position on the points table currently, with 5 wins in 7 games.

A week after the tournament’s postponement, the 27-year-old posted a picture of him and Virat Kohli, where the skipper is signing a jersey for him.

“Going to get this jersey framed,” he captioned his Twitter post.
