Only a few hours after the news of the latest injury scare, the Indian cricket team's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak provided some crucial updates. According to the Indian cricket team's coach, the blow to the elbow was not serious enough to rule Shubman Gill out of the 1st match between India and West Indies in the upcoming series.

The series between the two teams is scheduled to start on Sunday, September 27, at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The bilateral contest will start with a three-match ODI series before the five-match T20I series. As per Sitanshu Kotak, Gill is all set to feature in the India vs West Indies 1st ODI match at the Greenfield Stadium.

Yesterday (September 25), during the Indian cricket team's net session on the ground, a length delivery from the team's experienced pacer Mohammed Siraj hit the batter on the elbow. In pain, Gill immediately dropped his bat on the ground and left the pitch soon. The opener was visibly in pain while walking off the field before receiving treatment from team physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain.
According to media reports, Shubman Gill spent around 20 minutes with the team's medical unit to take care of the injury threat. Despite receiving treatment from the medical unit, the Indian skipper did not resume batting for the remainder of the session. Mohammed Siraj and the Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli went to check on the captain as well.
The hit on Gill's elbow was a scary moment for the Men in Blue as their multiple cricketers are yet to get clearance from the board's medical unit on their fitness before taking the field for the Indian cricket team. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is one of them and is still recovering from injury in the lead-up to the 2027 ODI World Cup Cup, while multiple other cricketers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Kumar Reddy joined the team after enduring their injury issues.
According to the batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, at least for now, there is nothing to worring about Gill.
