The  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google, Sundar Pichai congratulates the Indian team for their historic series triumph in Australia on Tuesday. India emerged victorious in the fourth and last Test of the series and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil for the consecutive time.

India take the series 2-1; a result which looked improbable after the 36 all-out humiliation in Adelaide. Stand-in skipper, Ajinkya Rahane led from the front in Melbourne with a century. The batsmen battled out inner and outer challenges in Sydney to keep the series level. Finally, at the Gabba, Australia’s fortress where the hosts haven’t lost since 1988, an injury riddled Indian squad etched indelible marks.

One of the greatest test series wins ever: Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai, who was born in Chennai is a cricket fanatic. Pichai took to Twitter to express his elation to India’s unfathomable series triumph. The 48-year-old labels this victory as ‘one of the greatest’. He also applauds Australia for giving their all- the hosts played with the same set of frontline bowlers throughout the series.

Pichai is amazed by the closeness of the series where both teams went nose to nose leading up to the last half an hour of the game, where a Rishabh Pant-driven Indian team crossed over the victory line.

“One of the greatest test series wins ever. Congrats India and well played Australia, what a series #INDvsAUS,” tweeted Sundar Pichai.

Chasing a target of 328, India lost Rohit Sharma early. However, other batters conjured partnerships to keep the chase alive; Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara notched up their respective fifties.

But it was Rishabh Pant who had the keys for a successful chase. Pant, just like in Sydney, lit the hope of a mammoth run-chase. While in Sydney, he got out for 97, in Brisbane, his 89* was enough to see India home in the last overs of the match.

Next, with an eye on the World Test Championship final, India host Joe Root’s England for a 4-Test match series commencing 5th February.
