"STINKER ON THE BIGGEST STAGE": Shubman Gill blasted by fans after another flop show in a Final at Ahmedabad
PC: X

Shubman Gill, called a choker by cricket fans after his poor form in the finals at Ahmedabad, continues with another early dismissal in the IPL 2026 final.

Gujarat Titans qualified for the IPL 2026 finals on the back of a strengthened batting order, which has mostly been backed by their top three batters. Shubman Gill has been one of the key players who has promised the GT fans some thrills throughout the season.

Shubman Gill departs early after match-winning century in Qualifier

Shubman Gill almost single-handedly guided the Gujarat Titans through to the IPL 2026 finals with that massive century in the Qualifier 2 against the Rajasthan Royals. When Gill said that he would have loved to bat at the toss, it built another sense of confidence within the GT fans.

The GT skipper also made a promising start to the innings with a lovely cover drive off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and a down-the-pitch jab against Josh Hazlewood. However, the jab could not help him get Hazlewood to the boundary the second time in the over.

It was looped into the air, and RCB skipper Rajat Patidar, who knew the importance of this wicket, did not make any mistake in completing a good catch.

NO Gill or Sudharsan; Vaibhav Sooryavanshi finishes as highest scorer in IPL 2026

Gill was dismissed for a score of 10 in the IPL 2026 final, and his Gujarat Titans opening partner Sai Sudharsan followed him to the dugout at a score of just 12. With this they ended their run-scoring saga in IPL 2026.

Gill finishes second on the Orange Cap leaderboard with 732 runs in the season, while Sudharsan finishes his second consecutive IPL season with 700+ runs as he finishes with 722 runs in the season.

With this, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sets a new record in the IPL as he finishes as the youngest ever winner of the Orange Cap in the history of the IPL, just at the age of 15. Sooryavanshi finished the season with 776 runs at the end of his 16-match season.
