GT vs MI key battles:
Sai Sudharsan vs Trent Boult:
The battle between Sai Sudharsan and Trent Boult could decide the fate of the GT innings. The left-handed batsman has been in stunning form this season and is currently the leading run-scorer in the competition. Sudharsan scored 41 runs in the last game against Lucknow Super Giants and will be eyeing another impactful outing with the bat.
With Sudharsan in such good form, the onus will be on Trent Boult to ensure that the right-handed batsman does not get the start. Boult is known for his ability to strike with the new ball and the New Zealander will be keen to make an impact.
Shubman Gill vs Jasprit Bumrah:
Shubman Gill has impressed one and all with his captaincy in the ongoing season. With the season now on the line, the right-handed batsman will be looking to lead his team from the front. Gill is the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2025 and will be keen to score big against MI.
With the GT skipper in good form, MI will be relying on their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah to get his wicket. Gill can single-handedly win the match on his day and Bumrah will be looking to dismiss him as early as possible.
Suryakumar Yadav vs Prasidh Krishna:
Suryakumar Yadav has been in terrific form this season as well. He is MI's leading run-scorer in the competition and only Gill and Sudharsan have scored more runs than him in the ongoing competition. Having scored half-centuries in his last two matches, Suryakumar will be keen to play another impactful knock in the Eliminator.
GT, on the other hand, will be hoping that their in-form pacer Prasidh Krishna gets the big wicket early in the match. Prasidh has taken 23 wickets so far and will be keen on adding more wickets to his tally.
GT vs MI Key Players:
GT - Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, and Prasidh Krishna will be the key players for GT.
MI - Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Trent Boult will be the key players for MI.
GT vs MI Weather Report:
While there is a prediction of rain in Chandigarh on the match day, it is likely to happen during the day. The GT vs MI match is unlikely to be interrupted by rain.
The temperature will be hovering around 30-27 degrees Celsius for most of the match while the humidity will be around 55-65%.
GT vs MI Pitch report:
The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium has offered inconsistent pitches this season. Neither the batsmen nor the bowlers have managed to dominate the proceedings consistently.
In the first two games at the venue, there were three innings of more than 200 runs. However, the batsmen have struggled in recent times. In the first qualifier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowled out Punjab Kings for just 101 runs and won the game by 8 wickets. Even though the Eliminator will be played on a fresh, the bowlers are likely to get ample support.
What happens to the winner and loser of the Eliminator?:
The Eliminator is a virtual quarterfinal played between the teams that finish at the third and fourth spot in the points table at the end of the league stage. The winner of the game qualifies for the second qualifier while the loser is eliminated from the tournament.
In the second qualifier, the loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the Eliminator will face each other for a place in the final. The winner of the GT vs MI match will take on Punjab Kings in the second qualifier while the loser will be dumped out of IPL 2025.
