Faf du Plessis opted to bowl after winning the toss at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 28. The visitors made one change to their lineup, with Glenn Maxwell replacing Lockie Ferguson in the playing XI. Gujarat fielded the same lineup from the previous game.
RCB spinner Swapnil Singh secured an early breakthrough for his team by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha, who managed five runs off four balls in the first over. The home team managed just 42 runs in the powerplay as both Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan found it difficult to score.

Glenn Maxwell took a wicket in his first over in his comeback match. The Australian all-rounder claimed the prized wicket of Shubman Gill, who scored 16 runs off 19 balls with one boundary. Cameron Green, who was positioned at long-on, ran to his left and took a well-judged catch.

The Ahmedabad-based team lost their second wicket when the score was 45 in the seventh over. Shahrukh Khan was promoted ahead of David Miller in the batting order. Shahrukh made the most of the opportunity and reached his maiden IPL century off just 24 deliveries.
Sudharsan and Shahrukh added 86 runs off 45 deliveries for the third wicket. However, RCB fast bowler Mohammed Siraj broke the partnership before they could add more quick runs to the total. Shahrukh departed after scoring 58 runs off 30 with the help of three fours and five sixes.
The Wicket Will Be Better Later - Faf du Plessis
Speaking at the toss, Faf du Plessis stated that the wicket would improve later. He highlighted the changing nature of the game with many high scores. He noted the team's enhanced firepower in the middle order with Maxwell returning.
"The wicket will be better later, so we will like to chase. With so many high scores the nature of this game has changed, our bowlers have been exceptional in the last two games. We have scored big with the bat, those are the changes. Maxwell comes back in, we have some firepower in the middle-order," Faf du Plessis said.
