The Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill walked in alongside Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals skipper at the toss. The Rajasthan Royals skipper won the toss in a second attempt after the referee, Prakash Bhatt, made a major goof-up.
The referee called out that he did not hear the call, and Gujarat Titans winning the toss in the first attempt went in vain. In the second attempt, Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag won the toss and opted to bat first.
Anyone would have opted to bat first at the venue and on the same pitch, which set a flurry of runs the last time the two teams clashed at this venue.

"I don't think the referee heard the call from Riyan": Shubman Gill looked disappointed with the Match referee
Shubman Gill looked utterly disgusted at the match referee when they asked him to flip the coin the second time after it already fell in his favour. However, he agreed to his decision and flipped the coin the second time.
"We would have batted first as well. 40 overs of play has already been [played] on the wicket, and we didn't think it's gonna change much, but unfortunately, I don't think the referee heard the call from Riyan," said Gill in a disgusted tone after losing the toss.
The Gujarat Titans made one change coming into this game as they brought in a second spinner into the game, replacing Kulwant Khejroliya, who played his only game of the season in the First Qualifier against RCB.

The decision from the referee was in favour of the Rajasthan Royals skipper, and hence he looked pretty relaxed with all smiles when the referee called out for a toss the second time. He would have loved to bat on the track where they had scored so many runs the other night.
"Pretty much the same wicket (to the last game). I just feel at the back end; I feel it slows down a little bit. And I've got more bowlers that use the slower ball. So I feel just trying to extract that," said the RR skipper.
"Yeah, I mean, we've had those types of games in the last three games now. So probably for a better cause. I feel everyone's up for it; everyone wants to win. And the messaging is clear: we play a good 40 overs of cricket. Whoever plays better cricket, they win," he added.
