Hardik Pandya becomes world No. 1 all-rounder in ICC Rankings after T20 World Cup heroics

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has become the No. 1 allrounder in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings for all-rounders. Pandya has risen two places to jointly top the rankings with 222 rating points with Sri Lankan star Wanindu Hasaranga.
Hardik Pandya had a brilliant T20 World Cup 2024 where he played a vital role in India's title win. With the bat, he played the role of a finisher to perfection by batting at No. 6. Hardik was equally brilliant with the ball as he played the role of third seamer to perfection which allowed India to play three spinners without compromising on their batting.

Hardik Pandya's performance in T20 World Cup 2024
In the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik Pandya scored 144 runs in 8 matches at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 151.57. The allrounder produced fantastic returns with the ball as well with 11 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 17.36 and an economy rate of 7.64.
In the final, he picked up the important wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller to rock South Africa. The wicket of the dangerous-looking Klaasen proved to be the turning point in the match.
He was tasked to bowl the final over of the match with 16 runs to defend. But Hardik kept his composure and picked up the crucial wicket of David Miller in his first ball. He finished with figures of 3-20 in three overs and showed his big-match capabilities in the important match.
Not only in the final, Hardik Pandya produced impactful performances throughout the tournament. In the Super 8 stage, he scored a crucial 50 off just 27 balls against Bangladesh and also had vital cameos against Afghanistan and Australia to help India register comprehensive wins.
Even in the semi-final against England, Pandya scored a quickfire 23 off 13 balls to help India cross the 200-run mark and put up a winning total on the board.
In the group stage of the tournament, Hardik Pandya was instrumental with the ball and helped India snatch narrow wins over Pakistan and USA. This T20 World Cup showed what Hardik Pandya can do when he is fully fit.
Other Indian players also make giant leaps in rankings
Meanwhile, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was also rewarded for his brilliant performance which won him the Player of the tournament award. Bumrah moved up 12 places to go to the 12th spot in the T20I bowler's rankings. The right-arm fast bowler picked up 15 wickets in 8 matches and bowled a whirlwind spell in the final to pick up 2-18 in four overs.
Bumrah's new-ball partner Arshdeep Singh moved up four spots to No. 13 in the rankings. Arshdeep Singh emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker of the competition with 17 wickets in 8 matches. Left-arm wristspinner also benefitted after his stupendous show which brought him 11 wickets in 5 matches. Kuldeep has moved three spots to joint eighth in the rankings.
