The tension between Hardik and Gill began when they skipped the usual handshake at the toss during the match. The MI skipper attempted to shake hands with Gill, but the Gujarat opener ignored him. Later, Hardik celebrated aggressively after Trent Boult dismissed Gill in the second innings.

The GT skipper shared a picture of himself with Pandya and captioned it, “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet),” subtly clarifying the camaraderie between the two.
After Shubman Gill addressed the speculation of a rift by posting “Nothing but love” on Instagram, the Mumbai Indians captain reshared the post on his own story and added the caption, “Always, Shubhu baby.”
Both players effectively shut down the swirling rumors of a fallout, making it clear that there is no bad blood between them.

Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya's IPL 2025 Numbers
Shubman Gill enjoyed a good IPL 2025 season, amassing 650 runs in 15 innings at an average of 50, with an impressive strike rate of 155.87, including six fifties. He is third among leading run-getters in the tournament, behind Sai Sudharsan and Suryakumar Yadav.
Hardik has scored 209 runs in 11 innings at an average of 26.13 and a brisk strike rate of 168.54. However, he made a bigger impact with the ball, taking 13 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 24.84, including a five-wicket haul. He is the Mumbai Indians’ third-highest wicket-taker.
Gujarat Titans' season came to an end with a loss to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Mumbai advanced to Qualifier 2, where they will meet Punjab Kings on June 1 in Ahmedabad. The winner of that clash will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 final on June 3.
Mumbai Indians Knock Out Gujarat Titans with Dominant Display
Mumbai Indians secured a 20-run victory in the Eliminator at Mullanpur. MI posted a total of 228/5, with 81 runs off 50 balls from Rohit Sharma. Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya also chipped in with contributions, helping them post a daunting score.
In response, GT lost captain Shubman Gill early for just 1. Sai Sudharsan kept their hopes alive with 80 off 49, while Washington Sundar added 48 off 24. Mumbai’s bowlers held their nerve at the death.
Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Sundar at a crucial moment and gave away just 8 runs in his final over. Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match for his batting performance.
