In 2019, cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were in hot water for making misogynistic and insulting remarks about women on director Karan Johar’s popular show ‘Koffee With Karan.’

Four years later, in a case filed against the trio at the Luni police station, the Jodhpur High Court awarded relief to the sports stars and the famous talk show host. They were charged with numerous offenses under the Indian Penal Code.

According to an ETimes story, the court declared the trio ‘innocent’ and dismissed the complaint, which was filed by Dr Meghwal, a resident of Sarecha village in the district.

Following the outcry for their sexist remarks, Pandya and KJo apologised on social media in 2019. The cricketer admits that he “got a little carried away with the nature of the show,” but he meant no harm to anyone.

The BCCI Had Suspended The Players Back In The Day For Their Comments

“After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way,” he wrote.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended the players at the time following condemnation for their derogatory statements. The governing body of cricket had to send the duo back home and they were not allowed to play the series against Australia.

The episode has since been removed from Disney+ Hotstar.

Kangana Ranaut dubbed KJo “the flag-bearer of nepotism” in the industry, and actresses Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone mocked Ranbir Kapoor’s affairs on the show and it has always remained in controversies.

On the cricket field, Hardik Pandya is currently in the West Indies for the T20 series while KL Rahul has not played any cricket since the IPL because of injuries and covid-19.
