Especially Naman, to come out and just hit on a difficult track was outstanding - Hardik Pandya
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Hardik Pandya only had a small chat with Harsha Bhogle as the interview was cut short because of rain.
Hardik Pandya said that the presence of Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah makes his job easier as they can bowl anytime during the match.
MI skipper Hardik Pandya also showered rich praise on the duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir for batting brilliantly and helping MI post an above-par score. He stated:
"I can throw the ball to them (Santner and Bumrah) whenever I want, they bring such control and perfection which makes my job very easy.
"We would've been very happy to get 160 but the way Naman and Surya finished it. Especially Naman, to come out and just hit on a difficult track was outstanding," Hardik Pandya further said during the chat with Harsha Bhogle before heavy rain interrupted their chat and the MI skipper had to leave.
MI beat DC in a thriller in their previous encounter
Mumbai Indians delivered a complete performance to defeat Delhi Capitals by 12 runs in a high-scoring clash on April 13, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After posting 205/5 on the board, MI bowlers held their nerve and sealed the deal.
Put in to bat, MI started well with Rohit Sharma (18) and Ryan Rickleton (41 off 25) playing quickfire knocks. Suryakumar Yadav (40 off 28) and Tilak Varma (59 off 33) carried the momentum forward, and then Naman Dhir’s unbeaten 38 off 17 pushed MI past the 200-run mark.
Defending the score, MI struck on the first ball with Deepak Chahar removing Jake Fraser-McGurk. However, Karun Nair counterattacked with a sensational 89 runs off 40 deliveries, to put MI on the back foot.
Then, Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma turned the game around with their sensational bowling performances, before MI inflicted a hat-trick of run-outs to bowl DC out for 193.
