Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya has been penalized with a massive penalty after his team's defeat at the Wankhede Stadium. He has been fined a whopping amount for having maintained a slow overrate in the game against the RCB.

Hardik Pandya fined for slow overrate in MI vs RCB game
Hardik Pandya is not having the best of seasons as the skipper of the Mumbai Indians side. He could not regulate his bowlers to the best of their ability, as MI got thrashed for 240 runs in their 20 overs. Hardik himself bowled a better spell as he also picked the vital wicket of Virat Kohli.
The MI captain, however, has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the game against the Royal Challengers. This was the team's first offence of the season, and he was found guilty of the breach of Article 2.22 of the IPL's code of conduct. He has been fined a massive INR 12 lakhs as per the rules.
The Mumbai Indians have been struggling with the ball, as Jasprit Bumrah has gone wicketless after four matches in IPL 2026. In this match as well, Hardik Pandya was forced to rethink his approach, as the MI bowlers kept getting thrashed.
Hardik Pandya's overall role with both bat and ball for MI
Hardik Pandya once again took up the new ball for the Mumbai Indians. The skipper led from the front and bowled some crucial overs when the RCB batters demolished the attack at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
He picked the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli, breaking the second-wicket partnership between the veteran star and the RCB skipper. Virat was dismissed for 50, while Hardik finished his spell with 39 runs and a wicket.
He came out to bat at no. 5, after the double-wicket over where MI lost their two left-handed batters, Ryan Rickelton and Tilak Varma. Pandya pulled out a 47-run partnership alongside Suryakumar Yadav and then scored 40 runs off just 22 balls before edging a ball off towards third man.
Tim David has been fined with 25% of the match fees against MI
RCB star batter Tim David played a very fine knock, once again contributing significantly with the bat. He scored 34 runs, striking at a strike rate of over 200. David has been significant for RCB towards the death overs.
Tim David has also been fined 25% of his match fees and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for players and team officials. David has been found breaching Article 2.4 of the IPL code of conduct. This is related to disobeying the umpire's instructions during a game.
