Former Indian skipper Ajay Jadeja lauded Hardik Pandya for his never-say-die attitude. Pandya and co. also witnessed the loudest roar of the season when he led Mumbai a lap of honour at Wankhede on May 21.
Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya turned criticism into applause last night against Delhi Capitals, when Mumbai qualified for the playoffs after beating Delhi.
Ajay Jadeja loves Hardik Pandya’s attitude
Ajay Jadeja heaped praise on Pandya’s never-give-up attitude and leadership. Pandya simply mangaed his team more effectively comapred to previous season, when he was receiving boos from the crowd.
“Hardik has been fabulous. He has got the energy. He has got a different style of captaining. Unfortunately, last season wasn’t a success. He has kept his cool. He has carried on the way he captains, whether he was at GT, whether it was last year,” Jadeja stated on JioStar.
Jadeja also pointed out that how time changes and it was the same ground and the same fans, who were booing him previous season and now all are cheering him.
“It’s lovely to see, for a man who has had such a tough time last year — with the same team, same ground, same fans — he has turned it around. The same fans at this ground were booing him last year; now they are cheering for him. That shows his character. You want to always have a leader like him — not just when you’re winning, but when you are losing as well.” Jadeja added.
The character of Hardik has always been a great moment for his fans. Everyone wants a leader like him, and he always leads his side well in difficult situations.
Ajay Jadeja on Mumbai Indian’s strength
According to Jadeja, Mumbai’s improved bowling has most benefited Hardik Pandya to lead his side well in the ongoing IPL season.
Jasprit Bumrah made his return to the IPL after missing out on the previous season. Bumrah scalps 20 wickets in 13 matches and bowls the difficult over in the game.
Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar didn’t put the burden on Bumrah as they did their job pretty well this season. The trio took 37 wickets in this season.
“The results have come his way this year. I think he has got a better bowling attack this year. So that makes a big difference,” Jadeja said.
Hardik Pandya also contributed with the ball for his team as he scalped 13 wickets this season.
Mumbai Indians become the last team to qualify for the playoffs
Last night, Mumbai Indians became the fourth and last team to qualify for the IPL playoffs as they defeated Delhi Capitals by 59 runs on May 21.
MI now have only one match left in the league stage and will be looking to finish the league stage in the top two positions to enhance their chances of playing another IPL final.
