India women's national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur scripted history on the opening day of the one-off Test against England at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

The experienced batter wrote another golden chapter in her remarkable international career as she achieved a record that no Indian cricketer, from either the men's or women's team, had managed before during the ongoing one-off Test against England Women at Lord’s.

Harmanpreet Kaur achieves special milestone at Lord's

Harmanpreet Kaur once again proved why she is one of India's biggest match-winners as she played a calm and responsible innings under pressure.

Her brilliant half-century not only helped India recover after an early collapse but also made her the first Indian player ever to score a fifty in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is at Lord's.

The India women's national cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur reached the special milestone with a well-made 58 runs during her team’s first innings against the England women's national cricket team at Lord’s.

Harmanpreet Kaur had already scored fifty-plus knocks in both ODI and T20I matches at the Home of Cricket, and her latest innings completed a unique record that no other Indian cricketer has ever achieved. Amid this, Shreyas Iyer's sister alleges he's playing with '10 snakes' in Team India.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues lead India's fightback

India did not get the start they wanted after winning the toss. The visitors were reduced to 37/2 inside the first seven overs after Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia were dismissed cheaply.

Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues then stitched an important 64-run partnership for the third wicket to bring India back into the game. Jemimah played an attacking knock of 35 runs from just 38 balls before England pacer Issy Wong ensured her ouster.

After Rodrigues' dismissal, Harmanpreet joined Mandhana in the middle, and together they completely changed the game. The captain and vice-captain added a valuable 89-run partnership, taking India into a strong position.

Harmanpreet looked confident throughout her innings, playing elegant cover drives and rotating the strike smartly to keep the scoreboard moving. However, Harmanpreet's excellent innings also came to an end shortly before the tea break when England debutant spinner Mady Villiers bowled her for 58. Mandhana was also dismissed for 83 runs.

England make late comeback despite Deepti Sharma's fighting fifty

At tea, India was in a good position at 202/5, but England fought back brilliantly in the final session. The hosts picked up the remaining wickets quickly, with India losing their last seven wickets for only 85 more runs. But Deepti Sharma managed to play a fighting knock lower down the order.

The senior all-rounder played a valuable knock of 57 runs—her fifth Test fifty—and stitched a useful 45-run partnership with Sneh Rana to help India reach a competitive total of 285 in the first innings.

Well, England women also did not have a great start at Lord’s. Kranti Goud gave India the perfect breakthrough by dismissing Tammy Beaumont for just two runs. At stumps on Day 1, England were 21/1, with Maya Bouchier unbeaten on 17 and Heather Knight at the crease.

The hosts still trail India by 264 runs, leaving the visitors in a strong position heading into the second day of the Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. Both teams are hoping for a strong comeback after they failed to lift the trophy at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
