England qualifies for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2026, defeating New Zealand on February 27. England had to grind hard before making their way into the semis. He will continue their march in the tournament, with an off-form Jos Buttler.

Harry Brook, England’s white-ball skipper, stated that Buttler might be in ‘a rut’ form with the bat, but he is not worried about that. For Brook, the top-order batter is the best batter across the globe to grace the format.

Jos Buttler has been struggling with his form since the group stage of the T20 World Cup 2026

Among the renowned openers of the T20 World Cup 2026, Jos Buttler is one of them. He started the campaign, scoring 26 and 21 against Nepal and the West Indies, but soon started to lose his flair. In the last five games against Scotland, Italy, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand, Buttler has returned with scores of 3, 3, 7, 2, and 0, averaging only 15 runs. The opener has managed just 62 runs in seven innings in the tournament so far.

In the semi-finals, England will face either West Indies or India in Mumbai. Will they consider any changes in their opening combination? As a replacement, Harry Brook-led team has Ben Duckett, who is a proven opener.

England to replace Jos Buttler with Ben Duckett?

But the Duckett in place of Jos Buttler is unlikely to happen as the skipper is keeping faith in the experienced batter. Brook pointed out what Buttler has done for the national team in the past.

“There's been a lot said about Jos. I said the other day that he's played 150 games for England in T20Is, and people probably need to take a little step back from that. He's probably the best white-ball player to have ever played the game. He's in a little bit of a rut now, but I think that's an exciting thing for everybody in the world to know what he could produce in the next couple of games”, Brook said in the presentation ceremony after they clashed with New Zealand at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The skipper further stated that he is confident about the matter that Buttler will bounce back soon, as the batter is hungry for scoring a significant number of runs.

“He's obviously got a lot of fire in the belly, and he wants to go out there and show everybody what he's made of. Look, he averages 34 striking at 145 in 150 games. He's a phenomenal player, and I have no doubts he'll go out and do well,” he added.

Last night against New Zealand, England chased down 160 in 19.3 overs, winning the match by 4 wickets. Will Jacks was named as the Player of the Match for securing his bowling figures of 2/23 (4), and an unbeaten 32 off 18 with the bat for a winning effort.
