Team India fast bowler Harshit Rana dismissed Australia’s aggressive opener Travis Head during the second ODI of the three-match series at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23. Virat Kohli completed a simple and comfortable catch as Head returned to the dressing room after scoring 28 runs.
The Shubman Gill-led team posted a total of 264/9 after being asked to bat first. Former skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer scored half-centuries following an early collapse. Lower-order batters Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh contributed crucial runs to help the team cross the 250-run mark.

Arshdeep Singh provided the first breakthrough for India while defending the target. The left-arm pacer dismissed Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh for just 11 runs off 24 balls. The Aussies lost their opening wicket with 30 runs on the board.
Harshit Rana struck soon after, removing Travis Head for 28 runs. Head tried to flick a good-length delivery on the pads but edged it high toward mid-off, where Virat Kohli held a simple catch.
Rana’s wicket proved to be a key moment, putting pressure on the Australian side and giving momentum to the Shubman Gill-led team as they looked to defend their total.

Matthew Short and Matt Renshaw Attempted Revival Before India Struck Back With Consecutive Wickets
Following Travis Head’s dismissal, Matthew Short and Matt Renshaw added 55 runs off 56 balls for the third wicket. The pair scored briskly, putting pressure on the Indian bowling attack. However, left-arm spinner Axar Patel brought India back into the game by dismissing Renshaw, who made 30 off 30 balls.
Washington Sundar then removed wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey for 9 runs off 17 balls, leaving Australia at 132/4. All-rounder Cooper Connolly joined Short at the crease, with the home side facing a challenging task to recover.
At the time of writing, Australia were 135/4 after 28 overs, with Short on 52 and Connolly on 2. They required 130 runs from the remaining 22 overs to chase down the target.
Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh Dismiss Australian Openers Following Impactful Batting Performance
India recovered from a shaky middle-order collapse to post 264/9 in the second ODI against Australia. Rohit Sharma scored 73 runs off 97 balls, including seven boundaries and two sixes. Shreyas Iyer (61) and Axar Patel (44) chipped in with valuable runs.
Harshit Rana (24) and Arshdeep Singh (13) added a 37-run stand for the ninth wicket that helped India reach a competitive total. The Men in Blue were at 226/8 at one stage in the innings.
Adam Zampa was the pick of bowlers for Australia, finishing with 4/60. Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Starc picked up three and two wickets respectively. Despite early setbacks, contributions from Indian middle- and lower-order batters helped them maintain control in the match.
