Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, and Mayank Yadav in contention for the future; to be nurtured by new India bowling coach
As Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure came to an end following the completion of T20 World Cup 2024, the tenure of the assistant coaches also terminated. This means that batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip's tenure with Team India also came to an end.
But it is believed that the next bowling coach will work with the upcoming crop of fast bowlers like Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, and Mayank Yadav in order to ensure a strong core of fast bowling.

Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, and Mayank Yadav in contention for the future
According to the reports, the BCCI is looking for a new bowling coach after the tenure of Paras Mhambrey has come to an end. The new bowling coach will work with the young fast bowlers like Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, and Tushar Deshpande.
The new bowling coach will be announced in some days after Gautam Gambhir's recommendation. There have been discussions on this topic but the final decision is yet to be made.
It is believed that the new head coach Gautam Gambhir is considering Laxmipathy Balaji and Vinay Kumar for the role but the BCCI is looking for a higher-profile candidate with a proven track record of working well with youngsters.
The idea is that the new bowling coach has to be able to mentor and inspire the younger crop of fast bowlers. Some of those fast bowlers are Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, and Mayank Yadav. Mohsin Khan, Umran Malik, and many other fast bowlers are also in the mix.
How Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, and Mayank Yadav fared in the IPL?
While Harshit Rana had a fabulous IPL season and finished as the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 20.15, Tushar Deshpande also has been doing well in the IPL for the past two years. In IPL 2024, Deshpande picked up 17 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 24.94.
On the other hand, the ever-exciting Mayank Yadav can't be counted out. Mayank has something that most of the fast bowlers in India don't have, and that is high pace at great control of line and length. He played just four games in IPL 2024, but his journey was injury-prone. After producing breathtaking spells in the first two matches against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he got injured.
Although he came back and played one more game, the injury didn't allow him to bowl his full quota of overs. If he can improve his fitness, he can be a lethal weapon for India in the bowling department with his pace and skills.
Traditionally, fast bowling hasn't been India's strength but in the past few years, India have been producing quality fast bowlers across formats. With bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj past the age of 30, India is looking for a new generation of fast bowlers who can serve them for a long time.
