Experienced Pakistani batsman Fawad Alam has denied reports of his retirement from international cricket to pursue a career with the United States of America (USA). Fawad Alam has admitted that he has no intention of announcing his retirement in the near future.

As per Cricbuzz report, Fawad Alam had decided to leave the Pakistan National Cricket Team and explore prospects in the United States of America. The report further added that the batter is set to join the Chicago Kingsmen team in Minor League Cricket T20 as a local player.

Remain Committed To Participating In Domestic Cricket – Fawad Alam

Fawad Alam said that he has not made a final decision regarding his cricket career, emphasizing his commitment to playing domestic cricket for another one to two years.

“I have not arrived at any conclusive determination up to this point. I have neither parted ways with Pakistan cricket nor opted for retirement,” Fawad Alam said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

“I remain committed to participating in domestic cricket, aiming to extend my involvement for the coming one to two years, or however long my professional journey continues,” he added.

The 36-year-old is a consistent run-scorer in first-class cricket, having amassed 14,526 runs in 201 matches with an average of 55.65. He has recorded 43 centuries in his red-ball cricket career, with a highest score of 296.

Fawad Alam Last Played For Pakistan In July 2022

The Karachi-born cricketer made his debut in the longer format of the game against Sri Lanka in 2009. However, the batter was dropped from the national team after a few Tests. He made his comeback in the Test squad after 11 years against England in Southampton in August 2020.

The unorthodox batter was dismissed for a duck in his comeback match. However, he later crafted a fighting century in New Zealand during his third game back. He went on to score centuries in Zimbabwe and the West Indies. He also scored a century against South Africa at home.

However, Alam’s form declined, and he managed only 33 runs in four innings on flat tracks against Australia in early 2022. He played his final international match against Sri Lanka in Galle in July 2022, scoring just 25 runs in his final outing in red-ball cricket for Pakistan across two innings.
