Heart-Stopping Match! Twitter Erupts As India Overcome Feisty South Africa To Reach 5th Consecutive U19 World Cup Final

The Indian team’s dominance in the U19 World Cup 2024 continued as they were able to make a place in the final of the tournament by defeating South Africa by 2 wickets. India were able to chase down the target of 245 runs in 48.5 overs and marked a place in a record 9th final of the tournament. India have played the last four finals of the U19 World Cup and have been able to win two of them.
The hosts South Africa proved to be a tough opponent for India in the semi finals as batting first they were able to put up a fighting first innings total of 244/7. Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Richard Seletswane were able to score half-centuries and played innings of 74 and 64 runs respectively. However, Indian bowler Raj Limbani picked up three wickets with the ball whereas, Musheer Khan also picked up 2 wickets. Naman Tiwari and Saumy Pandey ended up with 1 wicket each.
Chasing down the target India were reduced to 32/4. South African pacer Kwena Maphaka struck on the first ball of the chase and removed opener Adarsh Singh for a golden duck. Arshin Kulkarni was also dismissed for 9 runs by Tristan Luus, and he didn’t stop and ended up removing Musheer Khan and Priyanshu Moliya for 4 and 5 runs respectively.
India were taken out of trouble by captain Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas, who added 171 runs for the 5th wicket. Dhas played an innings of 96 runs from 95 balls and hit a total of 11 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Saharan played a knock of 81 runs from 124 balls. Soon after the departure of Sachin Dhas, India lost 2 quick wickets, but Uday Saharan stood at the crease till the end and got out when the Indian team needed 1 run to win inside 2 overs. At last, India were able to win the match by 2 wickets and marked a place in their fifth consecutive U19 World Cup final.
