Fans on Twitter reacted after India batter KL Rahul missed out on a classical century in the ongoing first Test against England. The first match of the five-Test series between the two teams is taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

KL Rahul has yet again proved to be a crisis man for India. The Rohit Sharma-led side were under pressure after they both the overnight batters in Yashasvi Jaiswal (80) and Shubman Gill (23) in the first session. The team needed someone to step up and steady the innings in what was a tricky phase.

KL Rahul, who recently slammed a Test century in South Africa, soaked in all the pressure and eased into the innings. Batting at No.4, the batter looked rock solid at the crease and played some sensational shots that ensured India took the momentum and put pressure back on the English team.

Right from the time he arrived at the crease and looked rock solid. The batter batted with 90% control in his innings and made many not miss Virat Kohli in the game. He took timely risks as well and made sure that India got quick runs as well.

KL Rahul played a huge role in India taking a first-innings lead. The batter was looking all set for a big ton but he perished on the cusp of achieving it. The middle-order batter got out to debutant Tom Hartley as he tried to play the big shot and score quickly.

KL Rahul tried to pull the short delivery from Tom Hartley. The batter didn’t generate the power he would’ve wanted. The ball went high in the sky and Rehan Ahmed moved to his left from deep midwicket to take a safe catch. He missed his hundred by 14 runs.

KL Rahul scored 86 runs off 123 balls and also slammed 8 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. With the way he batted, he deserved a ton. But in an attempt to be aggressive, he lost his wicket. The batter’s innings, however, hold great value for the team in the context of the game.
