Former Australia cricketer, now a seasoned coach, Justin Langer, is rumored to become England Test coach in place of Brendon McCullum, who was removed from the Test Team's coaching job the previous week.

Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis welcomes the decision if Langer could become the coach of the England National Cricket Team for the longest format of the game. Justin Langer is recognised as one of the impactful coaches who left his mark on a positive note as a former Australia National Cricket Team coach.

Justin Langer could become England's Test team coach

If he becomes England's coach, then it will come as a major boost for the Three Lions, as Marcus Stoinis felt. Since the removal of Brendon McCullum from the Test duties, the England cricket team remains without a head coach in the Test format.

Multiple names were in speculation as soon as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) snubbed McCullum from the position. Andy Flower, Rahul Dravid, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Stephen Fleming were among the names who were believed to be on the ECB's shortlist as Brendon McCullum's possible successor. Andy Flower was reportedly linked heavily with the board.

Marcus Stoinis excited to hear Justin Langer could be England's next head coach

As per the latest reports, former Australia cricketer and coach Langer could be appointed as the Test coach of England's men's cricket team. However, confirmation is yet to come. Marcus Stoinis, who also heard about the report involving Langer and the ECB, mentioned that it will be a very positive move by the English cricket board if they appoint Langer.

"I think if he wants to do it and if English cricket wants him, then I think he'll do a great job. Honestly, his work ethic, which hasn't changed from when he was a player. I was fortunate enough when I was young to be brought under his wing and train with him as a youngster," Stoinis said to Sky Sports Cricket.

Marcus Stoinis recalled his days with Justin Langer

Recalling those days, when he was under the wing of the veteran coach, the Aussie all-rounder expressed Justin Langer's coaching ethics. As he trained under the former cricketer, Stoinis is still impressed how the coach used to take the best out from the players through one on one session during the training sessions.

"Honestly, his work ethic, which hasn't changed from when he was a player. I was fortunate enough when I was young to be brought under his wing and train with him as a youngster... I was feeding balls to him on the bowling machine and that sort of stuff when he was still playing. That hasn't changed for him," Stoinis mentioned.

Langer is currently associated as the head coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and in The Hundred franchise league, he serves as the head coach of Manchester Super Giants. Manchester Super Giants will start their 2026 The Hundred season on July 23, against the London Spirits at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
