New Zealand middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls has been in the game for quite a long time now. Henry Nicholls made his international debut back in 2015 and has grown from strength to strength, cementing his spot in New Zealand’s Test and ODI outfit. With plenty of debates going around between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, Nicholls, who engaged in a Q&A session with ESPN Cricinfo, has opined on who amongst the two has the best cover drive.

While Virat Kohli has established himself as amongst the best of this era across formats, Babar Azam is also rapidly getting there. The Pakistan skipper recently toppled his Indian counterpart, Virat Kohli as the number one ODI batsman. The two right-handed batsmen would also make it to any World XI today and have an eye-catching cover drive. Thus, it’s indeed a challenge for any current or former player to choose one amongst the two.

But Henry Nicholls opted for Virat Kohli’s cover drive after much deliberation. The Indian captain has already headed to the United Kingdom, where his team will participate in the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton. Notably, Nicholls and Kohli would be up against one another as India and New Zealand will fight to claim the ultimate prize in Test cricket. Nicholls is, meanwhile, preparing for the same by playing against England.

Henry Nicholls made a promising start to New Zealand’s tour of England by remaining unbeaten at 46 at stumps on day one of the first Test at the Lord’s. The 29-year old arrived at the crease after Ross Taylor’s dismissal and rescued the visitors from a tricky spot by stitching an unbroken stand of 132 with Devon Conway. The southpaw has so far faced 149 balls for his 46, laced with three fours to guide the Kiwis to 246-3 at stumps.
