'He’s got strong views' - Andy Flower reveals intense experience with Gautam Gambhir after latter's head coach appointment

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower reacted to Gautam Gambhir's appointment as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team. He said that the new coach of Team India is a proud Indian and he loves Indian cricket.
India National Cricket Team finally got a new head coach as Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach ended. The Board of Control for Cricket in India roped in Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach after there were a lot of reports related to his appointment as the head coach of the team.
Gautam Gambhir, who was a fierce player during his playing days, will be taking over the charge of the team from the Sri Lanka tour. The Men in Blue will be traveling to the Island nation for the three ODIs and the three T20Is later this month and it will mark the new era in Indian cricket.
Gautam Gambhir since the last few years has been performing mentor roles in the Indian Premier League. For two years, he performed the role for Lucknow Super Giants and guided them to the playoffs. After that, he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders and guided them to a title win. The team was struggling to get going for the past few years and he changed the dynamics of the team.
Andy Flower, who worked with Gautam Gambhir at LSG, while talking about the appointment of him as head coach stated that the former India skipper has a clear vision. He backed the former Kolkata Knight Riders mentor to be a successful coach of the Indian team and added that Gambhir would take them to new heights. Speaking to Sony Sports, he explained:
"Well, the first thing he’s got to do is just give up his legends cricket at the moment. He’s quite a man Gautam Gambhir, I really enjoyed working with him. He’s got strong opinions, he’s got strong clear views on the game.
"He’s very decisive, he’s a very proud Indian, he loves Indian cricket and his position, representing Indian cricket. I think it’s a good appointment and I think he’s going to be successful."

Abhinav Mukund, who was also part of the discussion, talked about the same and stated that Gautam Gambhir is a good choice for the job. He pointed out how young players look at him and stated that the KKR mentor would want to carry forward the legacy of the team. He expressed:
"He’s a really good choice for the job. A lot of these younger players look up to him and respect him. He’s very astute on the field we’ve seen him as a captain but now more as a coach brought the team to success after 10 years.
"I’m sure he will be thinking I want to take this legacy forward. Won a world cup, let’s win a lot more in the next two or three years," he concluded.
