Virat Kohli didn't have a great outing with the bat.
Virat Kohli, who was playing his first Ranji Trophy game after 12 years, didn't have a great outing with the bat. The premier batter was expected to score some runs and give something in return to fans, who turned out in numbers to see the India National Cricket Team batter play.
Virat Kohli looked scratchy right from the start before Himanshu Sangwan sent him packing. The fast bowler came up with an aggressive celebration and looked absolutely pumped. After he removed the premier batter, there was a pin-drop silence in the stands as the fans left the ground.
There was no separate plan for Kohli - Himanshu Sangwan
While talking about his plan to Delhi batters, Himanshu Sangwan added that there wasn't any special planning planning. He called Virat Kohli's wicket a dream come true moment and added that he didn't have any particular plan for the batter as he expected the opposition to attack and get out. Speaking to the media, he said:
"We had a basic plan, and we stuck to it while bowling to them. There wasn’t any special planning involved. It was a dream come true moment for me. All of Delhi’s batsmen are very good in white-ball cricket. No batter hesitates to play their shots, and they keep swinging the bat. So, our plan was not to attack them but to bowl in a consistent channel as per our strategy
"Wo hum par attack karenge aur out honge (We expected them to attack us and eventually get themselves out). This was our simple plan, which applied to all of Delhi’s top six or seven batsmen, something we discussed in our team meeting as well. There was no separate plan for Kohli."
It was my natural celebration; I’ve always celebrated my wickets like that - Himanshu Sangwan
Himanshu Sangwan also talked about his celebration, saying that it was his natural celebration as he celebrates all his wickets like that. He said that he didn't preplan anything and wanted to stick to the basics. He added that it was a special moment for him to play in front of a huge crowd. He elaborated:
“It was my natural celebration; I’ve always celebrated my wickets like that. I didn’t do anything different there. We didn’t have any specific plan that only a particular bowler would take Kohli’s wicket, nor did I come with the mindset that I had to take Kohli’s wicket. Our plan was simple: stick to the basics and execute our strategies on the field,"
"In my opinion, this is not just my match but also a match in the history of the Ranji Trophy that has witnessed such a massive crowd. So, it was a special moment for us as well because, for the first time, we played a match in front of such a huge audience."
