On Saturday, Virat Kohli shocked the cricketing world with his announcement to quit the Test captaincy, reacting to Kohli’s shocking announcement the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said that the decision to relinquish the Test captaincy was Kohli’s personal decision and the BCCI “respects it immensely”.

Virat Kohli had a sensational run as a captain of the Indian Test team and he is unarguably one of the best Test captains of all time. He led India in 68 games and won 40, lost 17 and 11 matches ended in a draw. Also, he is the most successful Indian Test captain in terms of win percentage and total wins.

Also, Virat Kohli is ranked 4th amongst the Test captains with the most number of wins, he is just behind the greats like Graeme Smith, Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh.

After Kohli’s captaincy quitting announcement entire cricket fraternity came forward to shower praise on him for his astonishing captaincy career.

Meanwhile, the BCCI president Ganguly took to Twitter to praise Kohli. He stated that under Kohli’s leadership “ Indian cricket has made rapid strides”. He added that despite leaving captaincy Kohli will be an important member to take Indian cricket to new heights. Sourav Ganguly wrote:
