India and Sri Lanka will co-host the marquee tournament, with the matches being played across the ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam), R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo, Sri Lanka), and DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai).

Earlier, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was set to host the matches, but at the last moment, the matches were shifted to DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Ahead of the commencement of the competition, the ICC has announced a record increase in the prize money for the World Cup.

The overall prize money has been set as 13.88 million dollars, which is a monumental rise of 297 percent from 3.5 million dollars at the last edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup that was held in New Zealand in 2022.

Notably, the total prize for the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup eclipses that of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, which had total prize money of $10 million. The increase in the prize money aligns with the ICC’s strategy to amplify the growth of women’s cricket and introduce pay parity.

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 winners to receive $4.48 million

Meanwhile, the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 champions will get a prize money of $4.48 million, which is a 239 percent increase from the $1.32 million awarded to Australia in the last edition.

World Cup runners-up will get $2.24 million, an increase of 273 percent from the $600,000 England received. Also, the teams facing a defeat in the semi-final will be rewarded $1.12 million, an increase from $300,000.

The team that finishes in fifth and sixth spots will bag $700,000 each, and the seventh and eighth-ranked sides will get $280,000. Notably, every group stage participant is guaranteed to earn $250,000, while each group-stage win will get the team $34,314.

In an official statement released by ICC, Jay Shah said that the increase in prize money is a defining milestone in the journey of women’s cricket.
