The development of the India head coach Gautam Gambhir flying back to India was confirmed by a RevSportz journalist on Friday, June 13.
Gautam Gambhir Set To Return To India Due To Family Emergency
Gautam Gambhir has faced a family emergency as his mother has unfortunately suffered a heart attack and is currently in the ICU.
This concerning development has left Gautam Gambhir worried, and he has decided to return to India days ahead of the commencement of the five-match Test series between the Shubman Gill-led side and the Ben Stokes-led team.
However, in positive news, Gautam Gambhir is likely to rejoin the Indian Test squad in England next week and stay with the side before the first Test gets underway.
"India Head Coach, #GautamGambhir had to return to India due to a family emergency. His mother has suffered a heart attack and is currently in ICU. We wish her a speedy recovery and our thoughts with Gautam and the family," the report read.

India vs England Test series schedule
The five-match Test series between the India National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team will be part of the new cycle (2025-27) of the ICC World Test Championship.
Under the leadership of new skipper Shubman Gill, India will play their first match of the tour at Headingley in Leeds, from June 20, before moving to Edgbaston in Birmingham, for the second Test from July 2.
The third Test is set to be played from July 10 at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London, which is currently hosting the WTC Final 2025 between South Africa and Australia.
Also, the fourth Test will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23, and the series will conclude with the fifth and final Test match at The Oval in London, which will start on July 31.
Shubman Gill backed to shine for India
Recently, the former India head coach Gary Kirsten hailed Shubman Gill as a smart cricketer and backed him to shine as a leader in Test cricket.
"He is a smart cricketer with a deep understanding of the game. He is diligent in preparation and training—he’ll lead by example. Shubman has the raw materials to become a really good leader. I think he is primed to take the international scene by storm," Kirsten said on Star Sports.
Meanwhile, former India batter Robin Uthappa lauded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for handing the leadership to Gill, who can lead India for the next decade if things go well.
“You have got to give tops to that selection committee because they have gone with foresight. Shubman is just 24 or 25. If he gets this right, he could lead India for the next 10 years. That leaves Indian cricket in great hands because he is a high-quality bat."
