How Did RCB Perform in Their Previous IPL Match Against KKR?
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) put up a great fight but lost by just one run against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 21, 2024.
RCB’s decision to bowl first didn’t go as planned, with then-KKR batter Phil Salt launching an attack in the powerplay. The opening batter smashed 48 runs off just 14 balls, setting the tone for a massive total.
While Yash Dayal (2/56) and Cameron Green (2/35) picked up crucial wickets, they couldn’t restrict KKR to a low total as they scored 222 for 6. Lockie Ferguson (1/47) and Mohammed Siraj (1/40) chipped in with a wicket each, but overall the bowlers struggled.
Chasing 223, RCB lost Virat Kohli (18 off 7) and Faf du Plessis (7 off 7) early, but Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar kept the team in the hunt. Jacks hammered 55 off 32 balls, while Patidar was even more destructive, smashing 52 off 23. Their partnership gave RCB hope, but Andre Russell’s double strike in the 12th over derailed the chase.
Despite late contributions from Dinesh Karthik (25 off 18) and Karn Sharma (20 off 7), RCB couldn’t get the job done, losing their last wicket on the final delivery.
