India have received positive news before the start of the third day (Friday, July 25) of the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. Pacers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, who were ruled out of the ongoing Test match, were spotted on the field during the pre-day warm-up.

India, led by Shubman Gill, made several changes to their playing XI for the ongoing match. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh, who is yet to make his Test debut, were ruled out due to respective injuries. Anshul Kamboj was handed his Test debut in the penultimate match of the series in England.

Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh Ruled Out of Ongoing Test Due to Injuries

Arshdeep Singh injured his bowling hand during a training session in Beckenham while attempting to stop a shot from Sai Sudharsan in his follow-through. The cut required stitches, ruling him out of the fourth Test.

Akash Deep was sidelined with a groin niggle. He has a history of fitness issues, having missed the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the IPL 2025. The pacer left the field in pain during England’s innings of the third Test at Lord’s and returned later but did not bowl again that day.

Mohammed Siraj remains the only Indian pacer to have featured in all four Tests of the series, having bowled the highest number of overs among the visiting fast bowlers.

Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh Bowl in Warm-Up Ahead of Day 3 in Manchester Test

Bharat Sharma, sports writer for Press Trust of India, shared a positive update on social media, stating that both Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh were seen bowling during the pre-day warm-up session. This comes as positive news for India amid concerns over their fitness.

"Potential good news for India. Both Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh bowling in the pre day warm up," Bharat Sharma wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

India on the Back Foot at the End of Day 2 in Manchester Test

India were on the back foot at the end of Day 2 in Manchester. England reached 225/2 in response to the visitors’ first-innings total of 358 runs. The Indian bowlers struggled to maintain consistent pressure, allowing the hosts to settle in and score runs quickly.

With the series tilted 2-1 in England’s favor, this Test is a must-win for Shubman Gill’s side. A loss would hand the series to the hosts, while a victory would keep India in the fight and push the contest into a decider.

Kuldeep Yadav’s continued absence from the playing XI has been a talking point. The left-arm wrist-spinner has not been given an opportunity in the series so far. India have chosen to strengthen their batting line-up instead, sacrificing variety in the bowling department.
