Ravi Bishnoi's honest take on Virat Kohli's greatness

Though many have praised Virat Kohli's fitness before and have often found him to be a major source of inspiration, his teammate Ravi Bishnoi has now emerged as a new addition to the long list.

“I look up to Virat Bhai [Virat Kohli]; he is very fit. You can see his aggression on the field and off the field. When he bats or fields, you can see that energy, which fitness brings to your game; you get an extra push from it," said Bishnoi while speaking to ANI.

“I idolise him in fitness. I can’t go to his level, but I try to get close to him," added the Indian spinner.

Bishnoi's career has been impactful for LSG and India

The soon-to-be 25-year-old leg-spinner from Rajasthan, Ravi Bishnoi, made his debut back in 2019 against Tamil Nadu, and since then, he has bagged an IPL offer in all seasons from 2020 onwards.

Ravi Bishnoi has represented two franchises in the IPL, the Punjab Kings in 2020/21 and 2021, and the Lucknow Super Giants from their inaugural season in 2022. He has been of great value to the LSG franchise, picking 48 wickets for them in 4 seasons.

Ravi Bishnoi has also played for India in 42 T20 internationals after making his debut against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens. His only ODI appearance came against South Africa in 2022 at Lucknow, where he picked his maiden ODI wicket.

With 61 international T20 wickets and 72 wickets in the IPL, Bishnoi is a great athlete as well, since he has been seen engaged in several stunning moments of the game. He is a great sprinter chasing the ball and has a safe pair of hands.

Steve Harmison hails Virat Kohli

After India lost the Lord's Test by a very close margin while chasing a modest target, former England cricketer Steve Harmison recalled Virat Kohli's brilliance under such crunch situations. Kohli is often regarded as the greatest batter while chasing any target.

“Finding a way of creating an event throughout a session to change the course of the game. For me, India has to start believing. This is where the likes of Virat Kohli were unbelievable," Harmison said to ESPNcricinfo.

“In a fourth-innings chase, Kohli goes and wins the game comfortably. He would have won that game comfortably at Lord’s," Harmison said, implying results would have been opposite in Kohli's presence.
