England fast bowler Tymal Mills has not donned the national colours since February 2017 since he could not convert his potential to promising performances. Tymal Mills made his international debut back in 2016 and played five T20 internationals till early 2017. But he managed only three wickets at 43. Nevertheless, England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan asserted that Mills could force his way to the World T20 squad and Mills was taken aback by the claim.

Following England’s 3-0 victory over Sri Lanka in the T20Is, Eoin Morgan stated there are still spots up for grabs as there is still time for the T20 World Cup in the UAE. The Irishman remarked that players like Tymal Mills, who have been grounding in the domestic circuit and if perform well in The Hundred, could return to the fold. Morgan claimed that Mills is an outstanding bowler and they are in touch with him.

Meanwhile, Tymal Mills admitted it was nice to get that recognition as he did not see it coming and revealed that while playing a tournament in the UAE, Eoin Morgan said he was on the radar. The 28-year old feels delighted that his name still comes up in the selection meetings and accepted that even if it was a casual talk with Morgan, he thinks it’s good to still be in the picture.

“It was nice to get that recognition. I didn’t expect it, to be honest. I had a brief chat with Morgs, while playing in a tournament in the UAE, and he let me know I was still on the radar. Yeah, of course. Your name still comes up in selection meetings and things like that. We didn’t go into too much depth, it was just over a drink at dinner, but for me it was just a good chance to find out whether I was still in the picture,” Mills said as quoted by Sportsmail.

When I have been fit, I haven’t been performing as well as I would have liked: Tymal Mills

Tymal Mills further stated that it’s been four years since he last played for England and he hasn’t undergone a long time staying fit. The left-arm seamer also said when fit, he has not performed as well as he would have preferred to and wants to return to that level. Mills also revealed to looking after his body well, so he is committed to give his best no matter what.

“It’s been a long time – four and a half years – but since I last played for England I haven’t really had a period of staying fit. When I have been fit, I haven’t been performing as well as I would have liked. But it is a level I want to get back to, a level I feel capable of performing at, and I’m getting to a stage now where I’m trying my best to look after my body, so that when I’m out in the park, I can play well no matter what,” he added.
