Luke Ronchi in Pakistan Super League
PC: X

Former New Zealand cricketer Luke Ronchi showed frustration with the behavior of a journalist, which he could not hold in. His words were enough to describe that he was just fed up with these kinds of things.

Luke Ronchi, a former New Zealand cricketer and currently the head coach of the Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), was addressing the media when the Pakistan cricket team faced another embarrassing situation. The instance went internationally and yet again exposed the unprofessional nature of the league there.

Islamabad United has done a decent job so far in the ongoing Pakistan Super League

Under the guidance of Ronchi, Islamabad United has been doing well. They are currently sitting in the third position of the 8-team League. With four wins and three defeats, they have secured 9 points so far, with a net run rate of +1.082.

Yesterday, they had to face their third defeat of the season. In a low-scoring contest, United was outplayed by Rawalpindi. Batting first, Islamabad United scored only 137 runs in 20 overs at the National Stadium in Karachi. Rawalpindi needed only 18.1 overs to chase down the target.

Islamabad United's coach went furious over a journalist

In a press conference, it is unclear from which press conference the clip has taken form; the former New Zealand batter showed absolute fury over a journalist. In the video, we can hear a female journalist trying to ask a question to Luke Ronchi. Suddenly, another journalist cut the question in the middle and started to ask his own question to the head coach of the Islamabad United, which instantly annoyed Ronchi.

“Boss, we're in an order at the moment,” Ronchi said. Then, looking in a particular direction, he continued, “He can ask a question, I don't give a s***t. But if you just relax, please, can you please?”

Watch the moment when Luke Ronchi went furious over a journalist:

To ease the situation, someone came forward, maybe the media manager, and asked everyone to maintain the decorum of the press conference. He mentioned that any embarrassing moment in the room could result in a global embarrassment for Pakistan.

They somehow managed the situation

“Can you please make sure that the journalists actually respect the decorum of this press conference?” The peace-maker urged all the journalists to maintain a proper process to continue the remainder of the press conference without making any further trouble.

“And secondly, if there is any problem with the journalist, they can speak to me directly rather than cut Luke Ronchi off during his answer. So, I think that's the decorum we Pakistanis need to keep because this [the press conference] is going international. So, can you please kindly control the crowd?” he added further.

For the 36th match of the Pakistan Super League, Islamabad will be up against the Hyderabad Kingsmen, one of the latest additions in the league, today (April 24) at the National Stadium in Karachi. United will try to do their best to regain their momentum and increase their points tally. On the other side, Hyderabad Kingsmen have secured 4 wins in a row and are currently the fourth position holder in the points table.
