I Don’t Know What Sourav Ganguly Had Said To Virat Kohli So I Don’t Want To Comment On That – Madan Lal

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has said that he doesn’t actually know what transpired between Indian red-ball captain Virat Kohli and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly so doesn’t want to make any comment on that.

Notably, Virat Kohli addressed the media before the South Africa departure and he made some big revelations about the captaincy change. Previously, Kohli decided to step down from the T20I captaincy to manage his workload and the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had told that he personally requested Kohli not to quit the T20I captaincy but he didn’t agree and the selectors didn’t want to have 2 white-ball captains that’s why Kohli was removed from ODI captaincy and Rohit Sharma was given the entire white-ball captaincy.

Meanwhile, Kohli in the press conference revealed that he was not asked to reconsider his T20I captaincy relinquishing decision and it was received very well by the BCCI.

I Think This Situation Should Have Been Handled In A Better Way – Madan Lal

Lal opined that this captaincy matter should have been handled in a better way and he believes that BCCI president Ganguly should come forward and explain this entire matter.

“I think this situation should have been handled in a better way because it is not a controversy but a matter of opinion. I don’t know what Sourav had said to Virat so I don’t want to comment on that. But I think that Sourav being the president should come out and give an explanation and that will be the end of the entire issue. We need to be focused on the South Africa tour right now as it is an important game for us,” said Madan Lal as quoted by NDTV.

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal further added that Kohli should clear his issues with management and said that the selectors must handle the situation and stop these controversies. He elaborated:

“Gavaskar is correct with his point. Virat should clear all his issues with the management. This is not a big matter. I would say that the selectors should have handled the situation better. It is the duty of selectors to look after and stop these controversies. I am not sure if the selectors spoke to Virat before taking the decision.”
