Former England captain-turned commentator Michael Vaughan has expressed his concern regarding the successful staging of the Hundred and the five-match Test series between England and India.

The inaugural 100-ball competition is set to kickstart from July 21 while the marquee Test series will get underway from August 04 in Nottingham.

Michael Vaughan’s concerns come on the heels of the latest covid situation in the UK where the cases have been on a rise in the last few days.

A week ago, as many as seven England ODI squad members tested positive for Covid, which forced England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to announce a completely different group of players for the series against Pakistan.

Not only this, a county game between Derbyshire and Essex has to be called off after several players tested positive for the Wuhan virus.

And, now, the 23-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has tested positive for Covid.

According to reports in the media, Pant had tested positive for the virus eight days ago during his stay at a relative’s house.

Pant was immediately isolated and he has now been ruled out of the upcoming warm-up game between India and a County Select XI.

The Indian team sans Pant is set to convene in Durham on Thursday and the Delhi stumped will be able to join the set-up only after he returns negative for the virus. He will be tested again in two days’ time.

Taking to his official Twitter account, Michael Vaughan said apart from the Hundred and the India-England Test series, he even fears for the Ashes at the end of the year as he believes that players may pull out of the marquee series unless the bio-bubble rules aren’t changed.

“I fear for the 100 & the Indian Test series unless the isolation laws change .. we are bound to have cases as is the case with  @RishabhPant17 .. plus further down the line I fear the Ashes could be hugely affected with players pulling out unless bubbles/quarantine rules change !,” Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter.
