Australia National Cricket Team players Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Nathan Lyon talked about the Indian players ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match Test series this winter.
Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne said that he finds Rishabh Pant as most amusing batter in the Indian team. He highlighted how the keeper-batter gives funny vibes and plays the game in the right spirit. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:
"The one I always find the most amusing is Rishabh Pant. He's always funny, (has) a great laugh, and plays the game in the right spirit."
Rishabh Pant arguably is one of the funniest players to have played the game of cricket. The keeper-batter always keeps things light on the field and is known for his comments behind the stumps, which are recorded in the stump mic. The funny voices that he makes leave everyone in splits.
On the cricketing front, Rishabh Pant has already entered the greats of Indian cricket in Tests. His contribution to the team in the whites has been immense and has been one of the major reasons why the India National Cricket Team won two back-to-back series in Australia as he was the main character.
In the 2018-19 tour, Rishabh Pant slammed a terrific century in the Sydney Test but his best came in the last tour. The Southpaw played a stellar innings of 87 runs in Sydney that helped India draw the game and then followed it up with an unbeaten 89 in Gabba, helping the team chase a massive target and win for the first time in Brisbane.
Steve Smith, who was also part of the discussion, said that Ravindra Jadeja annoys him most. As per the premier batter, the India all-rounder always finds ways to be in the game with bat, ball, and in the field. He explained:
"I get annoyed by Jadeja on the field just because he's a very good player. He always finds a way to get in the battle, whether it's scoring runs, taking wickets, or making a great catch. It can be a bit annoying at times, but he's a very good player."
Jadeja is rated as the MVP of the Indian Cricket Team in Test cricket. The all-rounder's contribution to the team has been massive. He recently became the second-fastest player to the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Test cricket. He no doubt will be crucial for the team in the longest format of the game during the Australia tour.
I get triggered by all Indian players - Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon
Australia hard-hitting batter Travis Head was in awe of Virat Kohli, saying that the batter is always in the game, getting runs for the team and giving it to the opposition because of his energy. He elaborated:
"I think a lot of people would say Virat just because of how good he is. He's always getting runs, and his high energy is always there. He's always into you."
The most interesting remarks among all the Australian players came from Nathan Lyon. The off-spinner said that he gets triggered by all the Indian players. He said:
"I get triggered by all Indian players."
The Border-Gavaskar will begin on 22nd November at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The second game between India and Australia will be a day and night fixture that will be played in Adelaide from 6th December.
The third Test is scheduled to take place at the Gabba in Brisbane from 14th December followed by the Boxing-Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from 26th December. The last match will be played in Sydney from 3rd January.
