'I Got Out In The Same Way Twice, Then I Went To Meet Cheteshwar Pujara': Mohammad Rizwan Discloses Important Conversation With India's Star At Sussex

Mohammad Rizwan revealed a chat with Cheteshwar Pujara after the former was dismissed similarly twice during his Sussex stint.

Rizwan, the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman, is now playing for Sussex in the County Championships for the first time.

Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s experienced batter, is also on the team and has been one of the team’s most dependable batsmen thus far. Pujara has scored 717 runs in four matches for Sussex so far and is the season’s second-highest run-scorer.

Pujara and Rizwan put up a 154-run partnership during a match against Durham, with Pujara scoring a double-century (203 off 334 balls) and Rizwan slamming 79 off 145 balls.

Mohammad Rizwan has now spoken out about sharing the dressing room with Pujara, claiming that he sought assistance from him when the Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter struggled to start the season.

Rizwan had 22 runs, 0 runs, and 4 runs in three innings before his 79-run knock.

“After I got out early with Pujara, I had a chat with him.” He advised me to play close to the body, among other things. And, as everyone knows, we’ve been playing white-ball cricket for a few years now and play away from our bodies. Because the ball doesn’t swing or seam as much in white-ball, you don’t play as close to your body,” Rizwan explained to Cricwick.

“I got out twice in a row playing away from my body.” Then I went over to see him in the nets, and I recall him telling me that in Asia, we force the ball to play the drive. That is unnecessary here” Mohammad Rizwan Said.

“We also need to keep our distance from the body. I’ve had a lot of experience with white-ball cricket. So these are the things he told me, and he can tell you whatever he learned from me.”

On Thursday, Sussex will face Leicestershire in a match.
